We did a little ensemble outside the Impero Lounge on the Portishead High Street. Fortunately the weather was mild and we had pleny of help raising money for charity. Thanks to all for the donations and kind words. Please see the Gallery for more photos of this event. |

In memorium; Frances (Dilly) Taylor 1953-2022 The band has had many wonderful MD’s over the years, but until her unexpected and untimely passing in September 2022, Dilly Taylor was our much valued, experienced, forgiving and humorous leader. We continue to laugh when we know she would have laughed (and frowned!) and are grateful for the nearly 10 years we were honoured to have her as part of the band family. . |

We will be playing from 12 pm for an hour in Jubilee Park down by the Marina Portishead in support of "Picnic in the Park". Come down and join us, we are much more an ensemble than a traditional brass band at the moment, albeit i am sure there will be a few "brass band" numbers for the enthusiast plus a mixture of light and fun and hopefully toe tapping tunes to suit all.

We will be leading the Portishead Remembrance Parade at 10.20 this Sunday 8/11/15. Starting at Roath Road along High Street to St Peters Church. Hoping the great "Posset" folk will come out in numbers and remember those that have given so much for this country and many others

A really great remembrance concert. Not note perfect but hope the audience enjoyed it as much as us. We certainly had great participation from the crowd. Final figures not in yet but hopeful for a decent donation to the superb cause that is The Royal British Legion. Thank you to everyone who attended and a special mention to many local businesses who supported the event/programme with advertising and stickythings.co.uk who printed it for free.
Also we couldn't have done it without our great MD Dilly Taylor. THANK YOU ONE AND ALL. Next Sunday we will proudly lead the Remembrance parade through the High Street. I am sure Posset will ensure that it is as always well supported.

Well another fun practice and very pleased to be joined by Claire Mitchell and once again Simon Jones. We aint brilliant but a happy bunch. The Band is having a lot of fun operating as a brass ensemble, and new players (of min. grade 5 standard) are warmly invited to join them. (that includes YOU Rachael Dickinson!!!!!) Rehearsals are every Tuesday evening 7:45pm - 9:45pm in the Wesley Centre hall of the Methodist Church, Portishead High Street. An afternoon concert of remembrance, in aid of the Royal British Legion and incorporating some sing-a-long classics too, will be held on Sunday 1st November 2015 2pm at the Somerset Hall. The Band will also be leading the annual Remembrance Procession on Sunday 8th November through the High Street, and holding an afternoon concert of Christmas fun on Sunday 29th November, also 2pm at the Somerset Hall.

The town band are on the move from 9/2/15 we will in future be rehearsing at the Methodist Church Hall Ferndale Road on Tuesday’s 7-45 to 9-45.
Unfortunately we will lose our M.D. Dr. Fabien Huss as he has a commitment with the Cheddar Male Voice Choir on Tuesday’s. We are extremely fortunate that for the interim period we have secured the services of Dilly Taylor who is an ex-professional trumpet player and for several years a music teacher in the area. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small but committed group who are looking forward to new challenges of building a fresh repertoire of music for our forthcoming engagements

We will playing Carols and Christmas selections at Brackenwood Nursery (Abbots Leigh BS8 3RA). They are holding a Christmas Craft Fayre between 2 pm and 4pm. Come along and whilst you browse, buy and maybe eat and drink a thing or two listen to us and get in the festive mood.

We would like to wish band stalwart Rachael Dickinson best wishes for the future. Rachael has decided to hang up her cornet after over 15 years service. During this time she has been an integral member of the band both as a player and member of the committee, seeing the band rise from the 4th section to the championship. Rachaels sense of humour and commitment will be a big loss to the bandroom. Rachael has promised to come back and help out and she will always be VERY welcome. PS she definitely lasted longer than this fella...............

Megan update
Megan played a programme of three pieces at the District final on 8/3/14, she performed very well, and came a close 2nd. Only one performer goes through to the next stage and this was an oboe player. It was certainly a great experience for Megan so no reason to be disappointed. Upwards and onwards and well done
